B&Q plc is a British multinational DIY and home improvement chain. The company was founded in 1969 and has its head office in Eastleigh, UK. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kingfisher plc, the biggest DIY retailer in the UK, with 308 stores.
When B&Q approached us, they were looking for a scalable checkout solution with minimal impact on the existing store infrastructure to minimise disruption during the rollout.
We designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke checkout solution with improved ergonomics and higher scanning capacity.
The entire solution was centred around the existing checkouts’ power and data points to minimise the need for conversion, simplify installation and cause as little disruption to day-to-day operation as possible during the rollout.

The new checkouts provide improved customer service with higher scanning accuracy. At the same time, installation caused minimal disruption to day-to-day operations in the stores as we used the existing connection points for the new checkouts. Our solution has now been rolled out in all B&Q stores.
