HORST is the local, ”around the corner” store for all creative ideas for your home. It has everything you need for building, crafting and tinkering to make your home and your balcony more beautiful and more individual. In short: better.
With a floor area of 800 square metres, the range includes approximately 16,500 articles and is divided roughly into the following categories: fixings, paint, lighting, decoration and storage, garden and power tools.
In addition to its wide range, HORST also offers a comprehensive range of services, including GDS workshops, free tool and cargo bike hire and caretaker service under the name "Kümmerling".
ITAB Prolight Germany was commissioned to develop a suitable lighting concept. The concept had to allow for flexible rearrangement of the furniture and the lighting. The furniture, grouped into hexagonal rooms, had to be well lit from both sides. The lighting was not intended to be reminiscent of a classic DIY store. It had to look fresher and younger.
A grid of white lighting tracks running diagonally through the room in two opposing directions ensures the desired flexibility. A circumferential track emphasises the periphery.
The tracks are arranged on two different levels: a track mounted directly on the bare ceiling at a height of 4.60 m and suspended tracks at 3.30 m. There is no homogeneous hall lighting at all; instead, adjustable track lights with different reflectors provide vibrant lighting.
Customers benefit from the successful interplay of the shopfitting and the lighting.
Horst Retail Concepts GmbH in Hamburg won the "Store of the Year 2019" prize in the Home/Living category of the German Retail Association. In the opinion of the jury, the company redefines the DIY theme by focusing on urban customers. The comprehensive range of services with workshops and bikes rounds off the positive overall picture.
The 2019 award ceremony took place as part of the 15th German Retail Real Estate Congress in Berlin on January 30th 2019.
