Galeries Lafayette in Istanbul, an emblematic project from ITAB Prolight Germany, is a great example of the influence of lighting on humans and the impact that sustainable lighting planning can have in a project.
In this project, the lighting guides the consumer in the journey through the store, being motivated to go from highlight to highlight.
The main goal was to keep the customer comfortable, entertained and engaged through the shop.
At ITAB we firmly believe that lighting is a key element in the creation of the ultimate shopping experience, and we use it as an active instrument in our design of consumer experiences.
Every area was carefully planned to create distinctive atmospheres. Drama was created using medium and narrow spots in combination with decorative luminaires.
The star of the show, a 20-meter-wide atrium with its impressive cupola made of lasercut steel was highlighted using RGB lighting programmed into different scenes that respond to the time of the day or to special occasions.
Lighting control not only help the design in influencing the visitors with pleasant atmospheres, but it also allows for a more sustainable use of energy by considering time and demand.

The new LED technologies allowed us to create a perfectly illuminated store with low energy consumption, and our client can rest assured that the principles of sustainability are applied throughout the supply chain of our products.
General illuminance levels are also important for the comfort of the visitors as well as the use of antiglare fixtures.
