A unique and engaging atmosphere

The relationship between ITAB and CONAD has long been marked by a strong and fruitful partnership for both.

Within this relationship, the Solution Design team is frequently involved in generating new architectural and decorative ideas, as well as creating new customer journeys that align with evolving consumer purchasing behaviours and market trends.

Focus on the consumer

This retailer requested the designing and creation of a new format, better performing in terms of sales, capable of offering a premium, customised shopping experience. The goal was to create an environment able to not only attract customers but also engage them, improving loyalty and boosting sales.

The new format should be as consistent as possible with the values of a brand which “puts the focus on people”. This means stressing the importance of human perceptions, enhancing the design, setting and comfort of the outlet space. Attention to detail must reflect the quality of the product and services offered, creating a welcoming, exciting environment for customers. The approach aims to make every consumer feel comfortable and welcomed, offering an experience that extends beyond the mere purchase of a product. This enhances the shopping experience and strengthens the emotional bond and shared values between the customer and the brand.

A collaborative and innovative approach

The project included collaborative workshops with various Conad department managers—such as marketing, sales, and department directors—to establish an integrated and synergistic approach, which was fundamentally important for the project’s success. The end-to-end design service, covering every aspect of the process, from initial conception to final implementation, defined a detailed timeline from the early stages. The constant monitoring of timing and objectives, ensured that each phase of the project was completed according to schedule, avoiding delays and maintaining a high level of efficiency and control over all phases of our work.

Co-creating through an agile process

During the workshops, the core team learned to identify its target audience and the values to be expressed, as well as the logistical and functional needs of the different departments, in relation to new purchasing trends and market trends. The design team translated these insights into new solutions and proposals that were presented and discussed with the core team in the different steps of the work and iterative process.

The initial proposals were adjusted and improved based on the feedback received, ensuring that every detail was in line with the customer’s needs and expectations. This co-creation process resulted in solutions that were not only innovative, but also shared, pragmatic and above all achievable in the logic of initial expectations and objectives.

More on Solution Design

Loyalty and good value

We worked to create a balance between the retailer’s commercial perception and the quality/value combination. This balance was translated into a design proposal aimed at creating a sales environment that not only attracts consumers, but also builds their loyalty in the medium and long term.

The purpose of the new concept was to be developed into the go-to food store in the area – responding to consumer needs and standing out from the competition. The success of the new concept was obvious as early as in the first quarter after the store opening – as highlighted by a 25% increase in turnover compared to forecasts. The increase in sales clearly indicates customer appreciation and demonstrates our service’s ability to develop proposals that satisfy customers, thereby consolidating the retailer’s position in the market.
