ITAB UK were challenged to provide a ‘digital shop in a box’ full service offer which included lighting design and product supply to a wide range of stores across the UK

The challenge

Argos is a British catalogue retailer operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and a subsidiary of Sainsbury’s. The company trades via both physical stores and online, with over 750 stores and 800 million website visits a year, making it one of the largest high street retailers online in the United Kingdom. 

ITAB Prolight and ITAB Shop Concept worked in close partnership to produce a digital shop in a box for Argos. 

The store has a number of screens used for advertising and touchscreens for ordering products. This meant that ITAB Prolight had to come up with a solution that was low glare and did not generate too much light in the store as a lot of borrowed light was produced by the screens.  

The solution

ITAB Prolight UK provided a full service package, incorporating track and spotlights from the Nordic Light range. Our lighting solutions had to work in harmony with the large number of large and small digital screens.

We used Nordic Light track and down lights throughout with additional pendant lights over the browser tables. This has been rolled out across over 100 in-store concessions and 15 standalone high street stores.

The result

A vibrant high-tech store environment resulting in greatly improved store ambience and customer experience. A high-quality store experience combined with the low maintenance cost and energy-saving benefits of high-end LED engines delivered to a demanding schedule.
